Introduction

CivicInfo.org is a unique web site that organizes links geographically. The world wide web contains a plethera of information with very little organization or standards. CivicInfo.org realizes that each nation, state, county, municipality, and township have certain aspects in common. For example, each have a government.

County Attribute Descriptions

This section describes the attributes common to a county. Each is described in terms of its name, meaning, and information source.

air quality(a)

This attribute contains the first page of information about the amount and type of pollutants found in the air of a county.

air quality(b)

This attribute contains the second page of information about the amount and type of pollutants found in the air of a county.

better business

This attribute contains a link to the Better Business Bureau (BBB) that resides over the entire county. If the BBB does not reside over the entire county, then a link will be contained within each of the municipalities and townships.

census facts

This attribute contains a link to quick census facts as reported by the U.S. Census Bureau.

chamber

This attribute contains a link to the chamber of commerce whose operating range is the entire county. This attribute will be missing if no such chamber of commerce exists.

child support

This attribute contains a link to the county government's child support enforcement agency.

demographics

This attribute contains a link to the county demographics report from Ohio Department of Development' Office of Strategic Research.

elections

This attribute contains a link to the county board of elections web site.

fine arts

This attribute contains a link to the county fine arts association web site.

foreclosures

This attribute contains a link to a list of foreclosures within the county.

genealogy

This attribute contains a link to a web site containing online genealogy projects for the county.

government

This attribute contains a link to the county government web site.

public libraries

This attribute contains a link to a web site containing the list of public libraries contained in the county.

radio scanner

This attribute contains a link to a web site containing the list of radio scanning frquencies assigned in the county.

This attribute contains a link to a web site containing the list of public schools in the county.

seat

This attribute contains a link to the web site for the county seat.

search

This attribute contains a link to a search engine, whose search parameters are initialized to the name of the county, followed by the name of the state.

sheriff

This attribute contains a link to the web site of the county sheriff's office.

sex offenders

This attribute contains a link to the web site containing a list of registered sex offenders in the county.

visitors

This attribute contains a link to the web site of the convention and visitors bereau of the county.

weather

This attribute contains a link to the web site containing the weather forecast for the county.

Municipality Attribute Descriptions

This section describe the attributes common to a municipality. Each is described in terms of its name, meaning, and information source.

aerial view

This attribute contains a link to a web site that provides the most recent aerial view of the municipality. Generally, the view is centered on the government center.

apartments

This attribute contains a link to a web site that provides a listing of apartments available for rent in the municipality.

cameras

This attribute is a title attribute indicating that a group of video cameras follow. Each of the camera links begin with a capital letter.

chamber

This attribute contains a link to a web site sponsored by the chamber of commerce for the municipality and possibly its surrounding areas. This link will be present, even if there is a chamber of commerce link at the county level.

churches

This attribute contains a link to a web site which lists the churches located in the municipality.

community

This attribute contains a link to a web site provides community infromation about the municipality.

demographics

This attribute contains a link to a web site provides demographics information for the municipality.

email directory

This attribute contains a link to an email registry for individuals, government, and business contacts residing in the municipality.

golf courses

This attribute contains a link to a web page that lists the golf courses located in the municipality.

government

This attribute contains a link to the government web site for the municipality.

high school profile

This attribute contains a link to a web site which provides a profile information for a high school located in the municipality.

home sales

This attribute contains a link to a web site which provides home sales information for homes located in the municipality.

hospitals

This is a title attribute which indicates that a group of attributes which contain links to a web sites associated with hospitals located in the municipality. Each of these hospital attributes will begin with a capital letter.

job postings

This attribute contains a link to a web site which provides a job psotings information for career opportunities located in or around the municipality.

land sales

This attribute contains a link to a web site which provides land/property sales information for homes located in the municipality.

newspaper

This attribute contains a link to a local newspaper's web site.

public access

This attribute contains a link to a public access video web page that contains video files and video streams that focus on topics relating to the municipality.

public library

This attribute contains a link to a public library located in the municipality.

radio scanner

This attribute contains a link to a web site which lists the radio scanning frequencies assigned in the municipality.

radio stations

This attribute contains a title attribute, indicating the all of the attributes that follow and begin with a capital letter are links to radio stations licensed to operate in the municipality.

school system

This attribute contains a link to a web site associated with a public school system supported by the municipality.

search

This attribute contains a link to a search engine web site that has the name of the municipality, and the name of the state.

state rep(#99)

This attribute contains a link to a web site containing information about the Ohio State Representative assigned to this municipality. If present, the '#' is selectable and will link to a web page which displays the Ohio House District map. In this case, the '99' number, when selected, will display the district breakdown map for the county of the municipality.

If not '#' appears within the parenthesis, selecting the '99" number will display the Ohio House District Map

state senator(99)

This attribute contains a link to a web site containing information about the Ohio State Senator assigned to this municipality. The '99' number, when selected, will display the Ohio Senate District map for the county of the municipality.

street map

This attribute contains a link to a web site that will display a street map of the municipality. Generally, this map is centered on the government center for the municipality.

tax forms

This attribute contains a link to a web site that will allow the user to download the tax forms associated with the municipality.

topo map

This attribute contains a link to a web site that will display a topographical map of the municipality. Generally, this map is centered on the government center for the municipality.

traffic cam (OBSOLETE)

This attribute contains a link to a web site that will display a traffic cam. This attribute is being migrated to the 'cameras' attribute.

university

This attribute contains a link to a web site associated with a college or university located in the municipality.

weather

This attribute contains a link to a web site that will display a weather forecast for the municipality.

yellow pages

This attribute contains a link to a web site that will provide a yellow pages telephone directory for the municipality.
